“advice”

i have figured it out-
the way to make it last-

it involves
surgery and
science and
deceit and
hypnosis and
potions crafted by witchdoctors and
playing the right song at
the right time to
the right people
who will make it
stay-

and so i searched for a way to put it to the test-
because without these things-
the cause was hopeless-

i saw the shaman
who saw the shame inside
of my cynicism-

he asked
if it was worth having
if you had to go to such lengths-

i told him
that i had come to him
because i needed answers
not more questions-
never more questions-
and he nodded-
and i asked him
what he thought-

and he said,
"that one's up to you-"

and i knew that some questions
won't be answered
by wise men-
because only fools
think they're worth asking
