[Austin-specific] Want to watch an exciting new play from the comfort of your living room?

One Act Play
I mentioned earlier that I’m directing a play in the late part of the summer. It’s an original work that Kat wrote called ‘No One Else Will Ever Love You’, and it has four actors and takes place in real-time in a living room.

The piece is intimate and voyeuristic (and, since Kat wrote it, vaguely uncomfortable) and it’s going to be staged iin -actual- living rooms. What I need are volunteers. I’m casting a wide net right now, in order to figure out who’s got space that’ll work and stuff like that. The requirements are fairly simple - it needs to be a place big enough to hold four people, probably near a couch/coffee table set-up, and then with enough room for about ten other people to sit and watch. We’ll figure out the seating arrangements. Tiny apartments may not work, but big ones, or houses, or spaces like lofts/etc could be really neat.

The dates of the performances are August 28-29, and September 4-5 and 11-12. Ideally, you’ll be able to do a Friday-Saturday pair. We’ll also need at least one weekday before the show to rehearse in your place. We’ll make sure your house is kept very nice, and clean up before and after. We won’t make any major changes to your place, though we may ask that you remove the Battlestar Galactica posters before we start, if they’re in the performance area. If you’re interested, drop me a line at dan@dansolomon.com.

(also, no idea who those people in that picture are, sorry. They just look so community theater-y!)

[...] I have been cast in a thrilling new play.  It comes from first-time director but established arts reviewer, Dan Solomon (Decider, Austinist) and was penned by his wife, Katherine Craft.  It will be a site-specific performance, taking place in the living room or kitchen of someone’s home.  The whole experience will be like witnessing a very uncomfortable dinner party.  We are using a different living room for each of thhe three weekends.  We still need one more house. Could it be yours? Here’s all the info. [...]
