Hey, look, I went another month without posting.
I’m really going to try to be better about that from now on. I make no promises, but don’t be surprised to see some activity again here. It’s an easy habit to get out of when you’ve got two jobs that both require you to do a lot of writing, but I offer neither excuses nor promises. Just, um, hi.
In the meantime, here’s some stuff I’ve been writing for Onion-affiliate decider.com:
Blog: Counting Crows is better than your favorite band
Don’t live here: Austin’s lamest apartments
I’m also keeping a weekly column there right now called Bandwagon . Basically, each week I scour the musicians-wanted ads on Craigslist/etc and make fun of them. Yeah, it’s pretty much the best job in the world. The most recent one is here, but they’re all pretty fun. New ones run every Friday, and I’ll do my very best to post a notice when they go up.
Maybe tomorrow I’ll copy and paste over my 25 things from Facebook, in an effort to make this thing seem even more dated. And then, who knows, original content or something. Any of y’all really super-stoked about the upcoming Austin city council election? I’ll have a fresh take on Place 1 coming soon! For non-Austinites, here is a fresh tidbit about local politics: the odds-on favorite to be the next mayor of America’s second fastest growing city is actually named “Brewster McCracken”. That’s not, like, a made-up name to make fun of Irish people. That’s a real dude.
It’s good to see you again, Internet. We’ll be in touch.

Actually Dan, I’m guessing that Lee Leffingwell will be the next mayor of Austin. The name is not strange as Brewster McCracken, granted, and Leffingwell is also not as strange (strange in a weird and unsettling way) as McCracken.

McCracken’s name sounds like a parody Irishman; Leffingwell’s makes him seem like he should be baking cookies in a tree. I don’t base all of my voting decisions strictly on whose name is funnier, but as someone who pays his rent by making fun of people, I won’t lie and say it’s not a consideration.
I’m as-yet undecided between McCracken and Leffingwell, though, sincerely. I like both of them, for the most part, and I’d consider either an upgrade over Wynn.
