[good plan]

Oh, slick- John McCain promises to bring up Bill Ayers at the debate tonight. If America hasn’t jumped on that one when slick, sensationalist ads have tried to drive it home, surely it’s because they were waiting for McCain to grin his weird rictus-grin at the camera, laugh that creepy laugh, and say, my friends, Senator Obama is friends with a terrorist!

You know how it is- if making that charge in a commercial, a forum in which Obama doesn’t get the opportunity to retort, doesn’t convince people, doing so to his face, where he can say I hardly know the guy and he did that shit when I was eight is really gonna sell it.

A couple of months ago, I wrote about McCain implementing the Nixonian Southern Strategy. Which he kind of has, but he missed the point with pretty much every decision he’s made since Sarah Palin hopped on board- the attacks on the media, the encouragement of rabid, scary nuts in his crowd, this Ayers thing, etc. Because when Pat Buchanan wrote about trying to divide the country in two in order to win an election, the key line in his memo was this: we could cut the country in half, and my view is that we would by far have the larger half.

Instead McCain is running on some retarded variation of that strategy, which is still incredibly divisive, but which leaves him a half of maybe 40%. Good luck with that one, dude.
