“America is a country that loves direct confrontation and wants to see a winner emerge from a head-to-head contest between two fierce opponents”
…and that’s why I’m turned off sometimes by politics or sports. It’s hard for me to get into an aggressive mindset even if I play favoritism like any one else would. More often than not, I root for the underdog probably because John G. Avildsen movies have a place in my heart. Yet I still don’t like the idea of competition and image-games. Everyone’s a winner, in some way. But I realize that’s not how politics works.
I do enough reading/research to make a decision and from then out, I’d rather do other things. My decision on who to vote for was made a long time ago. I did have hope for the Chicago baseball teams, and it sure is a bummer to watch that shatter. But that kind of investment and anticipation is best saved for something creative, or something I KNOW will be rewarding, like a live show.

It’s alright, but this capitalism thing… *sighs*
Better than communism I guess. I like America just fine, I think
